Apple Inc.

I was previously a member of the Human Interface Device Prototyping Group at Apple. This is a small exploratory design team of hybrid designers/developers. They explore what new technologies might bring to current and future Apple products. As a member of the team, it was my job to invent and propose new features and sometimes entirely new products.

While many of the projects I worked on during my time at Apple are confidential because they are unreleased, some released products and features I prototyped for include:

  • iPhone X - navigation gestures

  • Wireless Charging

  • Features in iOS 10 Messages update

iPhone X - navigation gestures

Patent number us 10365814: Devices, methods, and graphical user interfaces for providing a home button replacement

When the iPhone X was released it would be the first iPhone with no home button. I created a range of designs and interactive prototypes for solutions to how the iPhone would “go home” and do all the functions the home button used to do, like access Siri and Apple Pay, multitask and open the control panel.

Wireless Charging

I created designs and interactive demos for charging feedback on the Apple wireless charging pad.

iOS 10 - Messages update

I created designs and prototypes for more expressive messaging features in iMessage.
